The Australian winery Kilikanoon cordially invites wine enthusiasts and trade visitors to sample its exquisite wines at this year’s ProWein in Düsseldorf (March 16–18, 2025). At the center of attention is the Attunga 1865 Shiraz, crafted from vines planted in 1865 that continue to yield grapes of exceptional quality.

A Winery with Vision
Founded in 1997 by winemaker Kevin Mitchell, Kilikanoon has rapidly become one of Australia’s most prestigious wineries. Hailing from a family of vintners, Mitchell acquired the estate in Penwortham in the picturesque Clare Valley, South Australia, to realize his vision of producing first-class, terroir-driven wines. His father, Mort Mitchell, significantly influenced the vineyard’s development—most notably with the renowned Mort’s Block Riesling, which he lovingly tended for over 40 years.

Today, Travis Fuller leads Kilikanoon’s wine production, emphasizing the importance of the historic vineyards: We are very proud of the old vines, many of which were planted over 100 years ago. It is a major advantage for us that we source such high-quality grape material from these vineyards.”

Clare Valley & Riesling: Kilikanoon's Terroir-Driven Masterpieces
Clare Valley is celebrated as the stronghold of Australian Riesling, thanks to its unique combination of high altitude, a continental climate, and calcareous soils. Warm days paired with cool nights allow for a slow ripening process that preserves the grapes’ distinctive acidity. Kilikanoon stands among the leading producers of this style, setting benchmarks with wines like the Mort’s Block Riesling. Fuller notes: “Our Riesling is dry, precise, and characterized by intense citrus and mineral notes—exactly what Riesling enthusiasts around the world appreciate.”

Kilikanoon's Red Wines: Power & Elegance from Old Vines
Internationally renowned for its expressive red wines, Kilikanoon masterfully captures the essence of the Clare Valley terroir. Particularly noteworthy are wines from historic single-vineyard sites, such as the Attunga 1865 Shiraz. Fuller explains: “Our old vines deliver a depth and complexity evident in their extraordinary structure, fine spice, and silky tannins.
