Changyu Moser XV and Lenz Maria Moser present the Château's latest wines with an evolved style and unmistakable quality. The ‘Family’ wines from the 2022 and 2023 vintages set new standards for Cabernet Sauvignon from Ningxia.
VIENNA, August 2024 - In recent years, the Changyu Moser XV winery, located in the heart of Ningxia, has made a name for itself in the wine world as a driving force in the region and a true innovator. Under the management of Lenz Maria Moser, a winemaker with almost 20 years of experience with China and Changyu, the winery is experiencing another stage of development characterised by a new style and outstanding quality. ‘Our new mantra,’ says Moser, ’is a balance of fruit, strength, freshness, elegance and uniqueness.’
These five pillars form the basis for the winery's latest wines, which not only reflect the quality of the estate, but also fully utilise the potential of the Ningxia region.
Moser describes the new wines as ‘unique’ and modern. He particularly emphasises the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, which produce the smallest berries in the world under the extreme desert conditions of Ningxia. These berries give the wines an incomparable concentration and finesse that is unrivalled worldwide - especially due to the particularly favourable ‘skin to juice ratio’ - lots of substance, little juice.
Moser Family Cabernet Sauvignon Blanc de Noir 2023
The Moser Family Cabernet Sauvignon Blanc de Noir 2023, affectionately known internally as the ‘Family White’, is the result of a deliberate move away from intensive barrel ageing in favour of a ‘lighter’ wood treatment, i.e. more used barriques and now also 500-litre barrels. This decision also emphasises the extraordinary fruitiness of the wine and gives it a unique elegance. The wine captivates with its exotic aromas of grapefruit and gooseberries, reminiscent of Sauvignon Blanc - although its lush texture is similar to Chardonnay.

Moser Family Cabernet Sauvignon 2022
The Moser Family Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 is a wine that surprised even its ‘maker’ Lenz Maria Moser. ‘It was the first wine in my life that I tried to downgrade because it was too good for its price,’ says Moser with a wink. But in the end, the decision was made to preserve the high quality.
This wine represents a new generation of Cabernet Sauvignon, characterised by intense aromas, fruitiness and freshness. With soft tannins and a hint of chocolate, this wine is a pleasure for all the senses and at the same time provides the structure for long ageing.
Moser compares this wine with the best wines from renowned châteaux, but at a very fair price. ‘We are clearly reacting to the current consumer fatigue with upmarket wine and want to consciously focus on value for money again,’ Moser adds deliberately.
With these new wines, Changyu Moser XV proves once again that China is capable of producing world-class wines. The ‘Family’ wines from the 2022 and 2023 vintages set new standards and consolidate the position of the winery in Ningxia and Changyu's overall position as China's leading wine producer.
With a now unmistakable style, outstanding quality and a very good price-performance ratio, these wines should delight and surprise both connoisseurs and consumers. It should also be noted that two of the château wines are absolutely unique on the world market - namely the two ‘White Cabernets’ Helan Mountain (without barrique ageing) and the Family White (briefly ‘toasted’ for six months). The idea for this was first developed worldwide at the Château in 2016 and has since become very popular in Europe and, more recently, in China itself
